🎬 1. Plan Your Video
- Script or outline: What do you want to show and say?
- Sequence: Start with you introducing the app on camera, then switch to the screen recording with your talking head in the corner.
📹 2. Record Yourself Holding the Phone (Intro Clip)
- Use a webcam or a camera/phone on a tripod.
- Record yourself introducing the app and maybe showing the phone in your hand.
📱 3. Record the Phone Screen
On Android:
- Enable Developer Options > USB debugging.
- Use
scrcpy
(excellent open-source tool) to mirror and record your phone’s screen:scrcpy --record file.mp4
- Optional: Add
--show-touches
to display where you tap (can be toggled in Android Developer Settings too).
On iPhone:
- You’ll likely need to use QuickTime Player on macOS, or a capture card. (This part is hard on Linux/Windows.)
👇 4. Add a Virtual Finger or Pointer
- If you enabled “Show touches” in Android developer settings, you might not need anything more.
- Otherwise, you can overlay a graphic (e.g., a transparent PNG of a finger) in video editing software at key moments.
🖼️ 5. Picture-in-Picture (Your Face in the Corner)
- Record your webcam video separately while you demonstrate the app.
- Use video editing software to place your webcam video in the bottom-right corner over the screen recording.
🧰 6. Editing the Video
On Linux:
- Kdenlive — full-featured and user-friendly.
- Shotcut — also good and cross-platform.
- OBS Studio (for live recording + PiP, less editing).
You can:
- Trim, cut, and arrange clips.
- Overlay your webcam footage in a corner.
- Add titles, transitions, background music, etc.
- Add an image overlay for a “virtual finger” if needed.
📤 7. Export and Upload to YouTube
- Render to MP4 with H.264 codec.
- Use a good thumbnail, title, and description for better engagement.
