If the TV Does Not Natively Support AirPlay

Use an AirPlay-Compatible Device

  1. Apple TV:
  • Connect the Apple TV to your TV’s HDMI port and set it up.
  • Ensure the Apple TV is on the same Wi-Fi network as your Apple device.
  • Use the AirPlay methods described above to mirror your screen.
  1. Third-Party AirPlay Receivers:
  • Some third-party devices and apps (like Roku or certain smart TV apps) may support AirPlay. Check the specific device’s documentation for setup instructions.

Use a Streaming Device

  1. Google Chromecast:
  • Install the Google Home app on your Apple device.
  • Connect the Chromecast to your TV and set it up via the Google Home app.
  • Open an AirPlay-compatible app on your iPhone/iPad (such as YouTube), start playing a video, tap the cast icon, and select your Chromecast.

Use an HDMI Cable

  1. Direct Connection from a MacBook:
  • Use a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter (or USB-C to HDMI for newer models) to connect your MacBook to the TV.
  • Select the appropriate HDMI input on your TV.
  • The MacBook’s screen should be mirrored to the TV.
  1. Lightning to HDMI Adapter for iPhone/iPad:
  • Use a Lightning Digital AV Adapter to connect your iPhone/iPad to the TV via HDMI.
  • Select the appropriate HDMI input on your TV.
  • The iPhone/iPad screen should be mirrored to the TV.

Summary

  • For Smart TVs with AirPlay Support: Ensure both devices are on the same network and use AirPlay.
  • For TVs without Native AirPlay Support: Use devices like Apple TV, Chromecast, or direct HDMI connections.

These methods will help you effectively screen cast from an iPad, iPhone, or Apple laptop to a TV.
